handbuilding classes
Working on a potter's wheel is only a small part of what is possible in clay.
Hand-building is a much older process than wheel-work. Hand-building includes techniques such as coil, slab, pinch, sculpture and tile pressing.
The classes run for seven weeks and meet on their designated day for two hours of instruction.
The studio is available 24/7* for registered students to practice and create.
The fee is $210**
Specific class times for the next handbuilding class:
Sun. afternoon 1-3 pm. -- Sept. 5 - October 17, 2010
Wed. morning 10-12pm -- Sept. 1 - October 13 , 2010
Tues. evening 7-9 pm. -- August 31 - October 12 , 2010
* The first night of class, students will submit a six digit personal code which they may use for access to the studio at any time. During class time, priority for wheel use remains with those enrolled in the particular class. Students for beginning pottery must be over age 21 (younger individuals admitted at the discretion of the management).
** The $210 fee includes 25 lbs of clay and the firing time and glazes to finish all of the work made from it.
